Mitsubishi Lancer and Mirage Keyless Entry Remotes

Many Lancer and Mirage models between 2000 and 2007 use this style of remote although there appears to be limited information of these remotes when searching the web.
We have completed most repairs on Lancer GLXi 2002 models.

Common problems are a broken or snapped battery holder, intact battery holder but a dry, cracked or broken solder joint causing the remote to work only sometimes, flat or low battery, sticking buttons and broken rubber membrane.

If one of lock or unlock buttons work but not the other, it's likely you have a broken battery connection on one side of the remote. We can repair these connections and strengthen the connection to the board in 3 places allowing you to still replace the battery.

Reprogramming

To add to your vehicle, have all the remotes you want to programme together (must all be done at the same time). All previously programmed remotes will be forgotten by the vehicle and replaced with the ones being added.

Procedure (with at least 1 functional transmitter)
  1. Ensure a door is open.
  2. Arm then disarm the system.
  3. Within 20 seconds of disarming, turn the ignition key from the "OFF" position to the "ACC" position 20 times leaving the key in the "OFF" position after the twentieth turn.
  4. The vehicle's indicators will flash 20 times to indicate successful entry.
  5. Once the indicators have finished flashing press the lock button (channel 1) on each of the transmitters you wish to program.
  6. Once finished turn the ignition key to the "ACC" position to lock in and exit from programming mode.
Procedure (without transmitters)
  1. Ensure a door is open.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable, wait 5 seconds then reconnect. If the system begins to sound when power is reconnected then proceed to step (3), otherwise go to step (4).
  3. Turn the ignition switch from the "OFF" to "ACC" position 10 times to manually override the alarm, Note: after the tenth turn leave the key in the OFF position and wait for the system to disarm after approximately 10 seconds.
  4. Within 20 seconds of disarming, turn the ignition key from the "OFF" position to the "ACC" position 20 times leaving the key in the "OFF" position after the twentieth turn.
  5. The vehicle's indicators will flash 20 times to indicate successful entry.
  6. Once the indicators have finished flashing press the lock button (channel 1) on each of the transmitters you wish to program.
  7. Once finished turn the ignition key to the "ACC" position to lock in and exit from programming mode.
If you annoy your neighbours while trying to do this with the alarm sounding, remove the alarm fuse from the panel behind the battery.
There are other procedures where you need to short the programming connector under the steering column, but is not required for this model of remote.
